Dr. Chris Bell

Dr. Chris Bell is a board-certified equine surgeon (DACVS-LA) and equine veterinarian with an interest in clinical research to promote and improve the health of horses. Dr. Bell has published in the areas of immunology, navicular disease, MRI imaging, novel ligament reconstruction techniques, TMJ pathology, neurosurgical techniques and upper airway surgery in the horse. Dr. Bell is a recognized speaker and has presented at the Provincial, National and International level in the areas of lameness, ethanol fusion of the hocks, MRI diagnosis and treatment of navicular disease and development of novel sinusitis treatments in horses. Dr. Bell has presented his research at the World Equine Veterinary Association Congress (Italy), American Association of Equine Practitioners conference (AAEP), American College of Veterinary Surgeons symposium (ACVS), CenCan Veterinary conference and at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

 

 

Dr. Bell serves his colleagues through multiple commitments to the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA). Dr. Bell is a member of the MVMA serving as the WCVM Advisory Committee Liaison and member of the Professional Image Committee for the MVMA. He previously served on the Practice Inspection Committee. Dr. Bell has been recognized by the MVMA with the Award of Merit in 2019 for contributions to his colleagues and the association.

 

 

Dr. Bell is President of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) sitting on Executive and Council member for Manitoba. He sits on the CVMA Canadian Veterinary Reserve. He is chair of the CVMA Emerging Leaders Program and chair of the Student and Early Career Engagement committee for the CVMA and MVMA.

 

 

Dr. Bell also participates in the Red River College Animal Health Technology teaching curriculum as host site for the equine anesthesia and radiology laboratory. Dr. Bell is also a member of the Red River College AHT Advisory committee and Red River College Curriculum Advisory Committee.

 

 

Dr. Bell is an active member of the equine community, sitting on several committees and boards within Manitoba such as the Manitoba Horse Breeds Council and Industry committee and consulting with Manitoba Horse Council. At the National/International level Dr. Bell currently serves as the AAEP liaison with the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association.

 

 

Dr. Bell is a FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian (PTV) and FEI Clean Sport Advocate.
